When the field next door becomes a subdivision

Celina grew almost twenty-five percent in a single year between 2024 and 2025, reaching a population above sixty-four thousand, and has nearly quadrupled since 2020. In 2024 the city issued a record two thousand nine hundred and thirty single-family permits.

Every one of those permits is land changing use. A pasture becomes a street. A barn that stood for fifty years comes down in an afternoon. A colony in a barn, a well house, a hay loft, a disused shed or a piece of standing equipment is a different job from a colony in a suburban wall. Access is often awkward, the comb is frequently much larger because nobody disturbed it for years, and the structure is rarely square or predictable.

A hanging cluster with no comb is a swarm, usually calm, and usually gone within a day or two. Call the same day if you can.

Bees moving in and out of a fixed gap in a wall, a roof, a barn wall or a piece of equipment is an established colony. Do not spray it. Killing the bees leaves the comb and honey in place, and that is what causes the staining, the smell and the second infestation.
